Wednesday, July 23, 2008 Council hails university for housing project
A TOTAL of 69 families have been awarded with fully-paid house and lots through the Land and Housing program of the University of Immaculate Conception (UIC).
Councilor Edgar Ibuyan, in his privilege speech Tuesday, said that 48 families were provided with a house and lot each at Mother Ignacia Homes at Barangay 5-A while 21 others were awarded lots only in the same area.
Ibuyan said the Land and Housing Program is just one of the many projects initiated by the UIC since 1984.
The school also has educational assistance and health assistance programs as well as capability building and trainings program.
"Indeed, it is very rare nowadays for a private institution to spend a large sum of money for purposed of helping other people. The lives of more than a thousand families have been changed through the generosity of this school," Ibuyan said.
In her message, Vice Mayor Sara Duterte lauded UIC for its dedication in helping the city attain progress through implementing worthwhile programs. (GLP)
