Kadayawan swimfest at Ladislawa
By Marianne Saberon-Abalayan

SOME 80 events will be contested when the Evangelista Aquatics hosts the second leg of the PASA RSA XI Series dubbed on August 16 and 17 tentatively set at the Ladislawa Garden and Country Club in Buhangin, Davao City.

Organizer Darren Evangelista said Thursday that there are 72 events entered in a regular leg of the Regional Swimming Association (RSA) series in the past. The event is dubbed "5th Languyan sa Kadayawan."

"But I've found out there will be more because there's a separate category for the six years old and under, seven, and eight, among other age-groups," Evangelista said during the regular Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum Thursday.

Individual participants can also compete in the rest of the age-groups--nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 and over for both boys and girls.

Evangelista said gold, silver, and bronze pins will be awarded to the top three swimmers in every event of every age group.

"The first three teams with the highest number of points will also receive trophies," he said.

Since the two-day meet is sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa), Evangelista said only duly-recognized Pasa member swimmers can compete.

Davao City Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and former Surigao Representative Prospero "Butch" Pichay have been invited to guest the opening rites.

RSA member clubs like the Coastland Davao Swim Team, Dadiangas Torpedoes, Sea Lions Swim Club, Evangelista Aquatics and Panabo City Swimming Team, are expected to plunge into action. (MLSA)
