A TOTAL cash prize of P42,000 is at stake in the 23rd Kadayawan sa Davao Open Bowling Tournament 2008 that rolls off on August 5 at the Fairlanes Bowling Center.

Co-tournament director Emie Orteza said this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

Orteza said the champion teams in division A (private, non-government and government agencies) and division B (commercial teams) will each receive P8,000 while the runners-up will get P6,000 each. They will also receive trophies.

The third placers will pocket P4,000 and fourth-placers will go home with P3,000 apiece in the meet organized by the Sunday Bowlers Club in celebration of the 23rd Kadayawan sa Davao festival.

"Only local teams are expected to join but we have extended an invitation to Cotabato Vice Governor Manny Piñol because he sent his teams during the 21st Kadayawan tournament. They're welcome to join us again this year," Orteza said.

The bowlfest is backed up by SAFI Group of Companies, Agnes Meat Supply, Nature Spring Water, Davao Diamond Industrial Supply, Golden Touch by Noel Tanza, FEDCO, Brilliant Pawnshop, LBWSI, Davao City Water District, Davao Light & Power Co., MAF Tractors, Inc., Eden Guira Meat Supply, Fairlanes Bowling Center, A. Escalante Construction, Lola Abon's Durian Candy, 4-M Engineering, Polyprod Industrial Supply, MVO Digital Concept and Screengraph.

The former SBC chief added Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte has been invited to be the guest speaker during the opening ceremonies. (MLSA)
