Philippine Judicial Academy team leader for personal security training, lawyer Rodel O. Hernandez, said the seminar aims to equip the judges with tools in protecting themselves.

"This seminar is for the judges to be equipped with tools for their safety. We have judges from Regions 9, 10, 11 and 12 and we based the participants on the list given by the court administrator," Hernandez told Sun.Star.

He said that they would also have their series of seminars in Luzon and Visayas.
The training for Mindanao was held in Davao City.

"Other judges na may threats, di kasali kasi the threats have not reached our office," Hernandez said.

He claimed that the 45 judges from all over Mindanao will also be oriented on the basics of physical, document, and communication security procedures as an added means of detecting and deterring potential threats.

"They will also have the casing and surveillance session, crime prevention, and basic first aid and technical facts regarding firearms and ammunition. On the last day, the judges will have an actual firing with the gun safety and marksmanship experts from the National Bureau of Investigation," Hernandez said in an interview.
