Major Armand Rico, spokesperson of the Eastern Mindanao Command, said although there are always threats, they have not monitored any immediate danger to the city.
However, police and military checkpoints have been put up in various entry and exit points of Davao City since Thursday, following the explosion in Digos City that wounded 35 people.
"The threat will always be there as long as there are threat groups," Rico said.
"What we need to do is to anticipate the threats," Rico added.
Rico also said security measures have been intensified in the various commercial centers and vital installations here in Davao City to avert a similar incident.
Initial reports obtained by Sun.Star showed that extortion might have been the reason behind the explosion last Thursday as the management of Metro Shuttle has reportedly received extortion demands from a terror group operating in the area prior to the incident.
