AdDU booters end European campaign
By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

WITH their European trip already concluded, the 12 young soccer players from the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) are coming home richer in experience and with loads of tale to tell from their highly successful campaign against the best young booters in the world.

The Davao booters are part of the Makati Football Club that represented the country in at least three highly competitive tournaments -- the Costa Blanca Cup in Benidorm, Spain, Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, and the Denmark Football Festival in Aarhus, Denmark.

Of the 12 Ateneo booters who competed and brought their skills abroad, four are girls: Alyssa Marie Ang, Erika Lorraine Turtur, Noreen Kim Maligad, and
Kyhren Angela Dimaandal.

The rest of Ateneo players include Romeo Raphael Du, Emmanuel Josue M. Brisson, Amiel Jan C. Paclibar, Derrico Diamante, Charlston Franklin Uy, Jonathan Ryan Lim, Zandro Yvann Cabo and Joshua James Valdez.

Their ages ranged from 10 to 15 and the Davao players even produced some magical moments as Turtur and Ang played for Team Philippines that won a gold during the Costa Blanca event.

In the Denmark Football Festival, the country bagged two silver medals, in the Girls 12 and Boys 13.

Parents of the Ateneo de Davao kids and local football officials are reportedly set to hold a grand welcome for the touring players when they arrive home next week.
