DAVAO City Police Office Investigation and Detection Division chief Antonio Rivera said he welcomes the meeting planned by Regional Trial Court (RTC)-Southern Mindanao executive judge Isaac Robillo regarding the failure of some warrant officers to serve subpoenas.
"The system that we have now is the best so far kasi we can check kung sino ang kumuha ng subpoena or warrant of arrest and malaman din natin if there's something wrong. Dati kasi, kanya-kanya silang kumukuha ng mga subpoena and di na ma-trace ang warrant officer," Rivera told Sun.Star Davao.
He said that one policeman is assigned to get the subpoenas and warrant of arrests from every court.
"And ihatag sa mga police in every station para e-serve sa ilang area of responsibility (The warrants are then distributed to police stations that have responsibility over the area)," Rivera said in an interview.
Robillo earlier said that he will invite other judges to attend the meeting.
This stemmed up after RTC branch 17 Judge Renato A. Fuentes earlier expressed disappointment over the performance of the warrant officer assigned in his sala who failed to serve the subpoena of the witnesses in one of the trials of the petition for bail hearing of Leonilo Larosa, the suspect in shooting to death Ferdinand "Batman" Lintuan in December, last year.
