Mayor wants 'giving all that's needed' for Bangsamoro

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he is for "giving all that is necessary for the Bangsamoro people."

Duterte said this as he admits that the issue on territory remains to be the most contentious in the controversial memorandum of agreement on the ancestral domain (MOA-AD) between government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Guesting in the television program "Give us this Day" of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy on Tuesday evening, Duterte said he is supportive of the government-MILF peace talks and that he also wanted peace for Mindanao just like everybody else.

"I want peace for Mindanao, I am for giving all what is necessary for the Bangsamoro. Kasi sila naman talaga nauna dito sa Mindanao eh," Duterte said.

However, he said he could not also blame other provinces and cities in opposing the controversial Bangsamoro Juridical Entity since it was done sub rosa (in secret) by the government and MILF peace panels.

Duterte earlier said he is supporting the demand of North Cotabato residents led by Vice Governor Emmanuel Piñol to make public the contents of the MOA-AD since they are the ones who will be directly affected by the agreement. (BOT)
