Friday, August 08, 2008 Who got the bouquet? By Carlo P. Mallo
WHAT could be worst in a wedding than the bride not finding her bouquet in time for her to walk down the aisle? It's good thing that it was only the bouquet of fashion designer to the stars, Jun Escario, which went missing that night at the Marco Polo Davao during the grand finale of the three-day Bridal Fair.
One of the most important days in the life of a woman is when she walks down the aisle, to start anew with the man she loves and loves her in return.
It is but only fitting that every detail be accounted for during the big day when the woman and the man exchange I do's. But more than anything else, it is what the woman wears on the big day that everyone takes notice of.
Ranging from the dainty laces to the bold use of beaded details, various wedding gowns were sashayed down the catwalk by the gorgeous models.
But stealing the scene was the unsinkable Lani Ayala who proved that being a model was not only for those who are young, but also for the young at heart.
Lani also wore bedazzling diamonds as provided by Emilia's Jewelry.
Among the more interesting pieces were the creations of Davao's finest designers.
A wedding gown accentuated with cut out pieces that looked like satin petals sewn together, the peacock-inspired purple wedding gown, and the old world charm of embroidery were just some of the pieces that had the audience gasp in amazement.
Davao's finest talents were represented by Erwin Tan of Kasuotan, Silverio, Egay Ayag, and Maureen Avisado-Sionco of Knots Forever.
Complimenting the gowns was the make-up done by L'Oreal Paris' chief make-up artist, Jigs Mayuga, and the hair, which was done by Joveth Pichon.
The 40-piece collection showcased by Jun Escario ranged from the luxury resort wear with modern animal prints which would be perfect for the honeymoon to the satin and silk wedding gowns accentuated with pink bows.
It was a night of bliss as the prettiest faces of Davao and its most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes gathered to grace the event.
Two of Davao's brides for the month of August were present at the event. Ayumi Kabuyashi, who is marrying Raffy Ayala at the Ayala-owned exclusive Buenavista Island today, arrived with her husband to be alongside with the rest of the Ayala family.
Also present was Beatrice Gonzales, who will be exchanging "I do's" with Julius Magallanes on Sunday with no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as one of their principal sponsors. She arrived together with her mother, Maridol Gonzales.
Getting married, especially here in the Philippines, is once in every person's life, so why not make your dream wedding come true.
