Garcia: The Next Tiger Woods?
By Imee Garcia

AN OLDER couple is playing in the annual Husband & Wife Club Championship. They are playing in a play-off hole and it is down to a 6-inch putt that the wife has to make. She takes her stance and her husband can see her trembling. She putts and misses; they lose the match.

On the way home in the car, her husband is fuming. "I can't believe you missed that putt! That putt was no longer than my 'willy'!" The wife just looked over at her husband and smiled and said, "Yes dear, but it was much harder!"

The 90th PGA Championship is being held this week at Oakland Hills Michigan. The defending champion is Tiger Woods. With Tiger still recuperating after his recent knee surgery, I wonder who the possible winners are. Some of the favorites to win are Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Padraig Harrington, Sergio Garcia, and Anthony Kim.

Who is Anthony Kim? Anthony Kim is the winner of the 2008 Wachovia Championship and the 2008 AT&T National Tournament. Some experts say that he is going to be the next Tiger Woods.

Anthony Kim, also known as "AK," is 23 years old and was born in Los Angeles, California. He turned pro in 2006, and as of this week, he is ranked 6th on the money list earning more than 3.6 million dollars so far. He is regarded as the best player in the world under 25.

In the last tournament, the WGC-World Golf Championship, he scored so poorly because he was invited by the Red Sox baseball team to Fenway Park in Boston. The players let him take some swings with a baseball bat, and apparently, he lost his golf swing and he had muscle pains afterwards.

I know what that feels like--to lose your golf swing because of trying out a different sport. In my case, it was badminton. You use different muscles and a different style of hitting the shuttlecock. Because of that, you temporarily lose your golf swing tempo. And you know what happens when you have no timing--disastrous!

Expect to hear more about Anthony Kim in the future. Maybe he really is the next Tiger Woods.

Upcoming Tournaments:

August 9, 2008 - President's Cup, Apo Golf & Country Club
August 22, 2008 - Medsa Tournament, Apo Golf Club
September 4-6 - Sta. Lucia Tour, 1st Leg, Rancho Palos Verdes
September 21 - 8th Anselmo Ferrazzini Memorial Golf Tournament, Rancho Palos Verdes
