Kadayawan bikefest fires off August 23

THE 150-kilometer massed-start Lumba Bisiklita sa Kadayawan, which hits the road on August 23 at the Davao City Hall Drive, will feature the road bike and mountain bike events.

PhilCycling Davao coordinator Salvador Paholio Jr. said there will be a five-man team competition for open elite and veterans categories and mountain bike individual junior 20-under and ladies open categories.

Paholio said defending champion Inday Sara Cycling Team heads the list of entries that include 3MG Trade Center of General Santos City, University of Mindanao, Great Circle Logistic, Butuan City Cycling Team and Cagayan de Oro City.

From the City Hall Drive, the route will pass through Magallanes, Lanang, Sasa going to Panabo City, Carmen, Dapecol, Sto. Tomas, Kapalong, Asuncion, Tagum City, Carmen, Panabo, Bunawan, Cabantian, Buhangin, Agdao Public Market and finishes at the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Barangay Hall.

Paholio prizes of the free-registration race will have yet to be finalized by the City Government of Davao.

He, however, stressed that riders need to join the Kadayawan event so they can also compete in the Pahalipay ni Mayor sa Pasko bikefest.

The race is organized by Samahang Siklista Kooperatiba ng Dabaw and Radio Mindanao Network in coordination with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office, Davao City Tourism Office, Davao City Sports Council, Inc. and Karancho Inc. (MLSA)
