Ladisalawa is venue of Kadayawan swimfest

THE Ladislawa Country Club in Buhangin will host the 5th Languyan sa Kadayawan, which is the second leg of the Regional Swimming Association (RSA) series, on August 16 and 17.

"With the venue settled, its all systems go now for the Languyan sa Kadayawan. Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and Vice-Mayor Inday Sara Duterte will also subsidize the swimming pool fees. It's really a huge help for us," organizer Darren Evangelista of the Evangelista Aquatics and Sports Management said Thursday during the weekly forum of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA).

He added that 12 teams have confirmed their entries to the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa)-sanctioned meet presented by Zeeplus Ascorbic Acid+Zinc.

Evangelista said some 80 events will be contested in boys and girls six and under, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19-over categories.

Gold, silver, and bronze pins will be awarded to the top three swimmers in every event of every age group. The top three teams, based on points, will receive trophies.

He said: "Non-Pasa member swimmers can avail of a two-day pass allowing them to join the meet provided that they submit a letter of intent to Pasa and pay additional P100 aside from the P350 registration fee of the Languyan competition."

Today is the set deadline of submission of entries. Interested participants may contact Chat Evangelista at mobile number (0921) 9081808 or e-mail darrenpe@yahoo.com.

Pasa, meanwhile, will hold a Level II Coaching Course at Ladislawa Country Club Friday. Veteran coaches from Manila will be the resource speakers. (MLSA)
