AS PART of the grand launching of the 60 Years of Excellence and Service of the Ateneo de Davao University, the Post Office has issued special commemorative postage stamps for the Jubilee of the University.
Mr. Luis D. Carlos, Assistant Postmaster General for Administration turned over these commemorative stamps to AdDU President, Fr. Antonio S. Samson S.J. during the Jubilee celebration last July 31 at the Matina Sports complex.
The three stamps feature the main school units of AdDU: front facades of Finster Hall for the Jacinto campus, the grade school building facing McArthur Highway, and the high school building facing Acacia Street.
The fourth stamp features the stained glass window in the University Chapel of the Assumption of Out Lady, Patroness of AdDU.
The Post Office also issued special souvenir sheets of the four stamps and a souvenir folder including the first day cover envelop with stamps.
For collectors, or those who'd want the commemorative stamp in their mailed correspondence, the commemorative stamps can be bought from the Office of the President, the Alumni Affairs Office, and the souvenir shop at Finster Food Court at the Jacinto campus, and the high school book store, Office of the Grade School Registrar, and souvenir shop at the Matina Sports Complex Food Court at the Matina Campus.
Fr. Rene Ocampo, who heads the Alumni Affairs, is also interested to know the identity of the boy in Ateneo uniform holding the hand of Fr. Mark Falvey, S.J., Headmaster of the ADDU Grade School, from 1953 to 59.
Anyone who can identify the boy in the Official First Day Cover is encouraged to email Fr. Ocampo at reneocamposj@yahoo.com.
