Honda-Davao sales up by 15% in 6 months
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

AMID soaring prices of fuel products, Honda Cars Davao Inc., which produces prestigious car models, has performed well in the first semester of the year, selling a total of 143 cars from January to June this year.

Christopher Tan, sales manager of the Honda Cars Davao Inc., said in an interview Thursday that the company has reached its target performance, up by 15 percent for the first six months of the year as compared to the same period last year.

"We are on track, though the industry experiences a slight slow down because of diesel prices, still we hit the target," Tan told Sun.Star Davao.

Tan said they projected the company to still hit its mark when the year ends.

He further said Honda is still one of the choices of the clients in Davao City, saying that Honda car models were ranked number two in the industry, and number three for the SUVs models.

"There are a lot of categories you should consider, but Honda has only two categories, the cars and the SUVs. We are ranked number two for the cars and number three for the SUVs," Tan disclosed.

What differs Honda Cars Davao from other car companies, Tan said, is that Honda produces prestige cars. As to the services, he said, Honda has one of the best services in town, saying that the company has equipped technicians.

"The prestige is different when you have a Honda unit. In terms of services, we have the best equipped technicians and we have complete parts here even if the unit is very old already," Tan noted.

"We are competitive in the market, our cheapest car here costs P575,000, we also have average costs that range from P800,000 to a million pesos," he said, adding that the most expensive Honda car costs P2.6 million.

Tan claimed that the patronage for surplus cars by some people in Davao City has only a slight effect in their business.

"Our target market is A, B, and C. Most of them do not buy surplus cars," Tan said.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Agraviador, acting HRD manager of the Honda Cars Davao, said that to render better services and to further develop accessibility to its client, the company has transferred from Cabaguio to Bajada, Davao City.

"We have better and bigger space here. We transferred on June 7, 2008," Agraviador said.

He added that to accommodate more clients, Honda Cars Davao is developing its quick service bay just beside its showroom and service center in Bajada.

It was learned that the construction of the additional space is expected to be completed next month.

Honda Cars Davao is also one of the companies visited by participants of the 7th Mindanao TVET Human Skills Development Conference on the second day of the event.

The conference was participated by students, school operators and owners from all over Mindanao.

"This is considered as a milestone for us because we just transferred. This is a great opportunity for us so that people would know that we are now occupying a new space here in Bajada," Agraviador said.

He also noted that this is the first time that Honda Cars Davao Inc. has accommodated visitors for site visit.
