Davao City eyed as 1st HP City

DAVAO City has been chosen by the Information Technology giant-Hewlett Packard as the first HP City in the Philippines.

In an interview with Bernadette Nacario, general manager of the personal systems group of HP Philippines, she said the full potential of Davao City as an IT hub has yet to be tapped,

"There is so much potential in Davao City," Nacario said. "Apart from being one of our most important markets, Davao City also represents the future of IT in the country."

To show its support for Davao City, HP Philippines is participating in this year's Kadayawan Festival as a bronze sponsor.

"Davao will always be a significant market for HP here in the Philippines," Nacario added.

Moreover, Nacario also said that HP would be more aggressive in its stakes in Davao.

"We would want to help the local government of Davao in strengthening the IT infrastructure," Nacario said.

HP will soon be providing its full portfolio in Davao City, as it noted the enormous opportunity for growth here.

"By bringing in the widest IT portfolio available today to the city, we are already helping it anticipate and address all its needs as a major IT hub," Nacario said.

At present, HP has penetrated less than 10 percent of the IT market in the city.

"It should be at least at 15 percent," Nacario said. (CPM)
