Double murder raps vs Villa Abrille boy
By Carlo P. Mallo

TWO counts of murder are being recommended for filing against Ken Alder Villa Abrille Lelis while two others were to be charged as accomplices in a crime that resulted in the death of two persons.

In a resolution issued Friday, Assistant Regional State Prosecutor Rolando Delima recommended the filing of two counts of murder against Lelis based on the evidence presented by the complainant.

"There is more than sufficient ground to believe that probable cause exists to indict the respondent, Ken Alder Villa Abrille Lelis, for the killing of Rommel T. Siglos and Rey John Tolentino in the evening of 23 May 2008," the resolution stated.

However, the resolution was only based on the merits of the evidence presented by the complainant as the respondent has failed to submit a counter-affidavit despite the lapse of two months since he was first notified of the filing of two charges of murder against him.

Lelis remains at large.

Delima also took into account the testimonies of two witnesses who identified Lelis as the sole gunman in the murder of the two victims.

Eyewitness accounts of the incident showed that Siglos was shot at the back of the head while Tolentino was shot several times while he was on the driver's seat. The gunman then reportedly fled from the crime scene on board a white Toyota Corolla.

The car was recovered the following day abandoned inside the parking lot of CHDC Hospital at Magallanes St. in Davao City. Records from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) confirmed that the white Toyota Corolla was registered in the name of Luis Villa Abrille.

A student identification card of the Philippine Women's College bearing the name and photo of a certain Ken Alder Villa Abrille Lelis was recovered inside the abandoned car.
