Monday, August 18, 2008 Vintage bomb found in Digos
A VINTAGE bomb was recovered by authorities from a dumpsite in Barangay Tres De Mayo, Digos City on Saturday.
Police Inspector Ferdinand Casiano of the Provincial Explosive and Ordnance Disposal Team (EODT) said the vintage bomb was a remnant of World War II but was still capable of exploding.
The bomb was 20 pounds heavy and could have been dumped at the place some time ago.
Casiano urges residents to report to authorities any explosive device that they find to avoid endangering innocent lives. It was learned that several vintage bombs are still scattered all over the province.
The Japanese used these during World War II, but a number failed to explode.
The EODT alerted junk shop owners to turn over the bombs to them in the event it is sold to them. (Dondon Dinoy)
