BPI to hold 3rd BPInoy Awards

THE Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) will recognize the achievements of overseas Filipinos in various fields of expertise in the upcoming BPInoy Awards in ceremonies to be held on October 8.

Now on its third year, the BPInoy Awards aims to communicate BPI's commitment to excellence and encourage nationalism among Filipinos abroad.

For the past two years, awardees include the world-renowned musical theater artist Lea Salonga, US-based technology entrepreneur Diosdado "Dado" Banatao, internationally known fashion designer Monique Lhuillier, and famous heart surgeon Dr. George Garcia of Asian Hospital and Medical Center.

"BPI is privileged to share and celebrate the success achieved by Overseas Filipinos who have truly demonstrated inherent Pinoy values," said Aurelio R. Montinola III, president and CEO of BPI, "the same values that catapulted them to world renown bringing honor and recognition to our country."

BPI launches its third BPInoy Awards amid its own achievement in the remittance industry as Top Commercial Bank for Overseas Filipino Remittances for the 3rd straight year and first bank to be conferred with the BSP Hall of Fame Award in this business.

Who can be nominated? Individuals of Filipino heritage, regardless of current citizenship, and of good moral character, may be nominated for their outstanding achievements as long as they have lived and or worked overseas.

All nominees will be evaluated by the BPInoy Awards Steering Committee based on criteria that include top-of-mind awareness and societal impact of achievements, among others. Two awardees will be chosen among the nominees; an expert from the arts, media or sports arena; and, another for business, science and technology.

The BPInoy awardees will get a chance to reconnect to his countrymen as BPI will donate P50,000 to a local charity of their choice. The awarding will coincide with BPI's BPInoy Week celebration on October 2008.

Who can nominate? Nominations may be made by any Filipino individual or organization based locally or internationally, by sending the nominee's name, profession, location, contact details and a short summary of his achievements. The nominator should also give his contact details.

Nomination may be sent via email to bpinoyawards@bpi.com.ph or via post to Athena Balleza, Marketing Department, Overseas Customers Segment, Bank of the Philippine Islands, 6/F BPI Family Savings Bank Center, Paseo de Roxas cor. Dela Rosa St., Makati City 1226, Metro Manila.

Deadline for nominations. BPI will accept public nominations for the BPInoy Awards up to September 8, 2008.
