Kumbira '08 opens with a bang

THE Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2008 shifted to high gear as Kumbira '08 kicked off with a huge party at Damosa Market Basket on Friday where people flooded in all day long to seek fun and fare.

The opening event was packed to the brim with exciting activities.

The affair started early with a motorcade from Damosa Gateway to downtown area around 4 p.m. Hopping in were of course the Kumbira tenants, Market Basket tenants and Gateway tenants.

Damosa's own version of Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan (street dancing) followed in right after the motorcade, which gathered the students of both Magallanes Elementary School and Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Central Elementary School who came in colorful native attires with a full blast from their drum and bugle corps.

As dusk started to set, the mood of the whole place lit up as booths lining up on one side started grilling and cooking food for hungry fellows while tiangge's on the other side attracted passersby with their colorful items from small trinkets to ready-to-wear (RTW) stuffs.

Highlighting the event was the Kadayawan Pop Fiesta Concert featuring Manila artists Yeng Constantino, JR Siaboc, Chad Peralta, Glaiza de Castro, and Shamrock Band. The crowd thundered in excitement as these artists played today's favorite songs.

August 22 will mark Damosa Gateway's 3rd Anniversary with versatile singer and recording artist Chad Borja gracing the celebration.

On August 23, Bombo Radyo and Star FM will offer free concert featuring Manila artists Rocksteddy band and sexy actress JC Parker.

The nightly food and non-food bazaar will stay until August 23 while tenant-establishments at Damosa Market Basket and Gateway can offer alternatives.

This celebration is both in line with the Kadayawan Festival and the 60th year of Damosa Land Incorporated (DLI).
