SM City joins Kadayawan celebration

SM CITY Davao celebrates Kadayawan sa Dabaw with exciting events and activities inside and around the mall, including a week-long mallwide sale that started on August 18.

The Kadayawan sale, where shoppers may avail themselves of big discounts on great selections, will be capped with a double midnight sale on Friday and Saturday.

While at it, shoppers have also the chance to witness cultural presentations that highlighted the festival, including the Sayaw Mindanao finals at 6 p.m. on August 22 at SM City Event Centre.

Sayaw Mindanao is a competition of Mindanao myths, legends, and folklores transformed into dance narratives by Mindanao-based dance groups. Outstanding dance critiques and choreographers will interact with the Mindanao choreographers during dance evaluation and citation.

Thursday night, shoppers can witness the fashion creations of Mindanawon designers in Moda Mindanaw's Fashion Night, 7-9 p.m. also at SM City Davao Event Centre.

Moda Mindanao showcases fashion designers and floral artists besting each other in a fashion and floral design extravaganza of indigenous-inspired silhouettes, Mindanoan fabrics, and floral accessories.

On Saturday, Dabawenyo fans of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson have the chance to watch the lead stars of ABS-CBN top-rating show "My Girl" performing live at SM City Event center, starting at 4 p.m.

After which, its party-time with the hits of the 80's and 90's as Earth, Wind and Fire Experience set the temperature and excitement high at the Parking C.

The band that gave us disco anthems such as September, Let's Groove, and Boogie Wonderland, among others.

A former featured musician of EWF by the name of Bruce Conte divulged that after EWF ceased performing for sometime, some of the founding members decided to revive it, but this time producing two groups.

One is headed by vocalist Philip Bailey, the other with guitarist Al McKay. While the first one pre-recorded music in its gigs mostly held around Europe, the Al McKay All Stars group -- the "Earth, Wind & Fire Experience" plays live music.
