Thursday, August 21, 2008 P10M pot excuse for failure of talks: MILF
THE P10 million-bounty for Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) leaders Ameril Umbra Kato alias Kumander Kato and Abdullah Macapaar alias Kumander Bravo is but a lame excuse of the government to justify the failure of the peace negotiations between the MILF and the government.
This was the opinion made by MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu in a telephone interview Wednesday morning.
He said the government is just finding an excuse for them to back out of the agreement they earlier made with the MILF.
Kabalu said that though the P5M bounty for each of the two MILF leaders is a government initiative, he urged government officials to look deeper into the North Cotabato and Lanao del Norte situations hinting that the government is partly to be blamed for the armed conflict in the said provinces.
Asked if they are investigating into the deaths of civilian perpetrated by Bravo and Kato, Kabalu said though they are looking into it they leave the proper investigation to the Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities and all other agencies that are interested to find the truth.
"Baka kasi sasabihin na naman nilang self-serving lang yung investigation na gagawin namin. Kaya we leave it all up to the CCCH," Kabalu said. (BOT)
