Thursday, August 21, 2008 Buhangin bags two golds in SK arnis competition
BARANGAY Buhangin bagged two golds and one bronze medal at the close of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) arnis competition.
Wencil Dionaldo bested Barangay 31-D's Gilbert Bustamante and Buhangin's Edgar Padua for the junior boys advance bantamweight gold. Bustamante and Padua took the silver and bronze, respectively.
John Danver Nastor clinched Buhangin's gold in junior boys novice bantamweight event over Barangay Sasa's Bernie Kadungog and Alfarog Kadir.
Barangay Lasang also snatched a gold in junior boys advance pinweight after he defeated teammate Kurt Belly Marcellones in the finals. The latter settled for silver while Barangay 6-A's Jacob Macasaet pocketed the bronze.
Tibungco's Manuel Gaviola salvaged the featherweight gold while Waan's Mumar Sudagar brought home the silver. Barangay 19-B's Jomar Galaura and Maa National High School's Raul Marimon tied for the bronze.
Alfred Sagne of Barangay 19-B clinched the junior boys novice gold at the expense of Khrutz Culi of Sasa and 10-B's Rommerl Salvador.
The junior boys novice featherweight gold went to Reymond Jay Suarez of Barangay Ubalde while Barangay 21 bet Binzar Yap got the silver and bronzes were awarded to Barangay San Isidro's Jumadeel Sampawan and Barangay 11-B's Edelberto Cortez.
In extra lightweight category, Barangay 33-D player Anthony Pleñas stamped his class including Michael Anthony Martho of R. Castillo and Reymon Satorenas of New Valencia.
Maa's Patrick Lantayona captured the half lightweight gold while Bunawan's Monic Bucol topped the junior girls novice bantamweight.
Cabantian's Claire Angelica Balaye ruled the junior girls advance bantamweight while Barangay 2-A's Kai Golosino emerged champion in featherweight.
Paulette Sapar of Barangay 10-A, meanwhile, governed the extra lightweight category of the one-day tournament organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Davao City in coordination with Arnis Philippines Davao City chapter. (MLSA)
