Guv opposes all-out war vs MILF

DAVAO del Sur Governor Douglas Ra. Cagas, speaking as chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC), is opposed to an all-out war against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Cagas issued his statement even as the MILF has been raiding villages and killing civilians.

He said that should Malacañang order an all-out war against the Moro rebels, people then should just brace for more conflict.

Such a move will not only destroy the island's economy, but will also place people's lives in even greater danger.

"Di lalim ning all out war ka yang collateral damage ani unya (An all-out war is not an easy situation to be in, the collateral damage will be very high)," the governor said.

The governor also appealed to MILF forces in Davao del Sur to remain calm and not add to the chaos already prevailing in other areas.

He has ordered the military to tighten the security of the region against possible spillover of the conflict in North Cotabato. (Orlando B. Dinoy)
