At 6 p.m., the showdown of the out-of-town contingents and finalists per category will be presented. The grand champion will be chosen from the category finalists.

Unlike last year when it was made exclusively for Davao-based groups, the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan 2008 will now be participated in by out-of-town contingents.

Councilor Edgar Ibuyan, who is also the Indak-Indak chair, said the activity has been divided in three different categories -- out-of-town contingents, Davao-based contingents, and indigenous peoples contingents.

The out-of-towners include: the Kambulang Festival of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, Karawasan Festival of John Bosco National High School, Mangagoy, Bislig City, and Kalilintad Festival of Mamasapano, Magundanao.

Tampakan National National High School, Tanggongon Festival of Digos National High Schools of Digos City, Pasundayagan Festival of Purok Sison Elementary School Performing Arts Group of Surallah, South Cotabato, and Tupi, South Cotabato are also expected to participate.

The groups will be housed at various schools in Davao City.

The grand champion will get P300,000 cash prize; 1st runner-up - P200,00; 2nd runner-up - P100,000, while the finalists will be given P50,00 as consolation prize.

A total of 10 groups will also compete in the Davao-based category, namely: Matina Central Elementary School: Doņa Asuncion Hizon Elementary School; Bolton Elementary School; Fatima Elementary School, Mandug; Catalunan Grande Elementary School; Ma-a Central Elementary School; Magallanes Elementary School; San Isidro Elementary School; Kapitan Tomas Elementary School; and Kabacan Elementary School.

The top three groups will get P100,000 each.

Some 10 tribes were also invited to showcase the dances. They, however, are voluntary presenters and are not part of the competition. These are the Ubo-Manuvu, Ata, Sama, Maranao, Maguindanaon, Tausug, Matigsalog, K'lagan, K'lata and Tagabawa.

Each tribe will receive a cash subsidy from the City Government for their presentation.

Only two among the eight judges for the Indak-Indak hails from Mindanao while only one is from Davao City. They are Sonny Noel, Culture and Arts Director of Mindanao State University, Marawi City; and Nestor Horfilla, Consultant of the Department of Tourism-Southern Mindanao and Gawad CCP Awardee, respectively.

The other judges are: Josephine Guillen, President of Philippine Folk Dance Society (PFDS) and Dance Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP); Shirley Halili-Cruz, Chair of the Dance Committee of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA); Dr. Larry Gabao, Vice-Chair of the Dance Committee of NCCA; Dolores Suzara; Chair of the Sinulog Foundation; Granco velas Secretary of the PFDS and NCCA; and Marichu Dillano, Chief of the Project Management Division of NCCA.
