Army to get Umbra Kato, dead or alive

THE military is bent on getting Kumander Ameril Umbra Kato of the 105th Base Command Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces, whether dead or alive.

According to Army 6th Infantry Division spokesperson Colonel Julieto Ando, members of the Lawless Moro Islamic Liberation Front Group (LMG) are the target of their surgical strikes.

At least 117 rebels had been killed, three government troopers and several others wounded, and thousands of residents displaced in the war in Maguindanao and North Cotabato.

Ando denied what MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu earlier said about their men dying in an ambush in Barangay Pansol, Guindulungan, Maguindanao at 6:45 p.m. on August 21.

Ando said three soldiers from the 6th Infantry Battalion were wounded and brought to the Camp Siongco Hospital.

Meanwhile, MILF chair Al Haj Murad Ebrahim asked media practitioners to report only the truth during a press conference in Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Shariff Kabunsuan Province and not take sides.

Ebrahim said they have placed Kumander Amrel Umbra Kato and Kumander Bravo under military court martial and they will be charged under the Shariah Court for their attacks in North Cotabato and Lanao Del Norte.

Ebrahim added it is not the duty of the MILF to explain the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) but the government's responsibility.

Despite the ongoing warfare, Ebrahim said the MILF has not closed its doors to peace talks negotiations in Mindanao. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
