Monday, August 25, 2008 Korean slay case now with trial court By Rhodamae M. Hernandez
THE City Prosecutor's Office already forwarded to the Regional Trial Court (RTC) the case filed against the men accused of robbing and killing a Korean national at the corner of Sta. Ana Avenue and Bangoy Street in Davao City earlier this month.
Jeffrey Tumolon Bayot, 34, of West Lamitan in Don Marcelino in Davao del Sur, Rodel Danas, Ricky Bardinas alias Boboy, Ramil Balbistamin Licomes alias Nonoy, and Florentino Bayot were charged with robbery with homicide for the death of Jang Su Park. It is only Jeffrey who is behind bars while the others are still at large.
Prosecutor Gemma Dabbay Tambis recommended the filing of charges based on the accounts of Norman Pasaol Angcon, 33, a worker of the victim, who identified the sandal found by the police in the crime scene last August 4 as belonging to Danas.
In his affidavit, Angcon also said that before the killing, he noticed Licomes busy texting and acting very uneasy, while Jeffrey, who was a former co-worker, was suspiciously visiting their workplace often.
He claimed that when he learned that Jeffrey was arrested, he went to the Sta. Ana police station and was told by the suspect that Licomes was the one who planned it all.
No bail was recommended for each of the respondent's temporary liberty.
