MMDA chief unfazed by survey results
By Carlo P. Mallo

THOUGH latest survey results of the Social Weather Station (SWS) showed that he was not among the top choices of Filipinos as their possible bet in the 2010 presidential polls, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chair Bayani Fernando is not buckling down.

Fernando was in Davao City for the Kadayawan festivities and as keynote speaker in the 4th National Workshop on Civil Registration.

In true Filipino politico fashion, Fernando toured various spots of Davao City onboard his vehicle laden with streamers bearing his name alongside the Philippine Flag.

He was also flanked by his supporters donning his signature in pink color with the Philippine Flag and the name Bayani printed on their shirts.

Fernando, who is a close ally of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, admitted that he has yet to obtain the blessings of the President for his candidacy, but nonetheless continues with his sorties around the country.

"I think I can do something, I can make a difference," Fernando said.

The MMDA chair cited his advocacy on discipline, saying it is what the country needs right now amid the worsening social fragmentation the country has been experiencing.
