Fishermen find left foot in military boot

A LEFT foot inside a military boot was the latest body part washed ashore that is believed to have come from the C-130 that crashed into the Davao gulf Monday evening, a few minutes after it took off from the Davao International Airport.

The exact location of the crash site continues to remain a mystery due to the absence of proper equipment.

The left foot was recovered by two local fishermen at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the vicinity of Camp Panacan, a few kilometers north of the suspected crash site in Bucana area.

Other body parts, which were previously recovered floating or washed ashore since the day of the crash, included a left portion of the lungs, the soft tissue of the Mons Pubis -- a portion of the small intestine -- a 6-cm. portion of the Messetery part of the scalp, and patches of skin with soft tissue.

The body parts were already brought to the Department of Health 11 for freezing.

Search and retrieval operations continue despite the absence of sophisticated equipment that will verify the exact location of the missing aircraft.

Based on the route plot that was made by the Philippine Air Force, the missing C-130 is believed to have crashed some 2.5 nautical miles off the coast of Bucana, Davao City at depths ranging from 800 to 1,000 feet below sea level.

"We still have not confirmed the exact location of the aircraft," said Captain Rosauro Arnel Gonzales, head of Task Force C-130, during a press conference Thursday at the Coast Guard office in Sta. Ana Pier. (CPM)
