AFP gaining more ground in battle with MILF

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is gaining more ground against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) since the armed conflict between the two adversaries started on August 10.

In a report by the AFP Eastern Mindanao Command, several rebel encampments, trenches and bunkers in Central Mindanao have been overrun by government troops in the past days.

All of the camps allegedly belong to MILF's 105th Base Command under Commander Ameril Umbra Kato.

Some of the MILF camps overran by AFP in Central Mindanao include:

* Bunkers and running trenches with training facility at sitio Diate, Barangay Pusao in Mamasapano, Maguindanao;

* Consolidated area with training facility, bunkers, running trenches at sitio Tatapan, Barangay Kitango in Datu Saudi Ampatuan;

* Five enemy bunkers/fighting positions, house of Kumander Jade Pakidatu at Barangay Lumopog, Datu Piang;

* MILF field hospital at Barangay Damatulan, Datu Piang;

* Well-fortified camp with running trenches, overhead protection, temporary hospital, presence of MILF flag at Barangay Duaminanga, Datu Piang;

* Ammo dump and IED reproduction area at Barangay Tukanalipao, Mamasapano;

* MILF bunkers with barricades and running trenches and a temporary hospital that can accommodate 15 persons at Kadigasan in Midsayap, North Cotabato;

* MILF assembly training camp at Barangay Madia, Datu Saudi Ampatuan; and

* 12 MILF bunkers at Barangay Damatulan, Datu Piang.

In Lanao, the military also overran the main camp of Kumander Bravo in Munai Wednesday evening.
