Restos, cinemas warned: Follow health standards

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte called on all restaurants and movie houses to upgrade their comfort rooms and to ensure that the facilities have running water.

"The restrooms should have running water," the city mayor said in his weekly television program "Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa."

Duterte said restaurants and movie houses should improve and make the necessary construction in their respective areas.

"I will close your establishments," Duterte said.

Duterte said some restaurants in the city are no longer following the rules and regulations of the city pertaining to health standards.

Some restaurants, according to reports, have comfort rooms that stink and have no running water.

"The true test is if your daughter or wife is comfortable in using the comfort room," the city mayor said. "Don't wait for me to close you down."

The mayor also reiterated his warning to videoke joints in residential areas of the city. "At 10 o'clock it should stop, or if it is an enclosed place, lower the noise," Duterte said.

The city mayor invoked his obligation to protect public interest, safety, and welfare. (CPM)
