Davao more peaceful than other key cities: investor
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

DAVAO City's peace and order situation is one of the main reasons that investors are enticed to put up branches here rather than in other key cities of the country like Cebu.

Joel Cruz, business development head of the Global Quality Waters and Environmental Solutions Technologies (GQWest) Inc.--manufacturer of the Aquabest purified drinking water, said in an interview that the Davao City branch is their second biggest in the country today.

"After Davao City, we plan to eventually put up an office in Cebu. We prefer to set up a branch here in Davao considering its potential market. The peace and order situation is also better compared to other cities," Cruz told Sun.Star.

He said the company also plans to expand its operation to some parts of Mindanao after the opening of its office in Davao City.

Cruz added they are not bothered by the ongoing skirmishes in some parts of Mindanao, saying they already considered the risk factors before putting up an office here.

"The risk in putting up a business is always there. I understand that it does not only happen in Mindanao, but also in some parts of the country, even in Visayas or in Luzon," he said.

Cruz, on the other hand, said that their business would not only mean water-refilling station. He said their branch offers quality products, services, value, and technology.

GQWest-Davao formally opened Tuesday afternoon at the Ground Floor of the Plaza de Luisa along Magsaysay Avenue, Davao City.
