Ateneo booters sizzle in Kadayawan tourney

THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) cornered six titles in the Filipino Spanish Friendship Football Festival sa Kadayawan 2008 held Saturday and Sunday at the Tionko Football Field.

The Ateneo booters ruled the boys eight years old and under category, while Montserrat Academy placed second and Catalunan Grande Elementary School (CGES) placed third. AdDU also topped the boys 10-under over Montserrat Academy and CGES.

AdDU also emerged champion in boys 14-under while Malita, Davao del Sur and Emar Learning Center placed second and third, respectively, in the bootfest organized by the Davao Football Association in cooperation with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.

In the boys' 17-under, AdDU beat Brokenshire College and ELC for the top spot, while AdDU defeated SOS in girls elementary and then went on to pocket the girls high school crown over Holy Child School College.

The Davao U-17 Ladies Team, meanwhile, placed first in the ladies open while Seagull Football Club (FC) was second and UP Mindanao third.

The Hooligan's FC ruled the men's open first division while Brokenshire College topped the men's open second division.

Hooligans prevailed over Seagull FC and Davao del Norte FA while BC knocked down opponents Lumad FC and Waterworld FC in the meet that drew some 1,200 players from a total of 112 teams.

Tournament director Manuel Cris "Buboy" Arrieta II said Abbas' Orchard, Southpoint, F. Banggoy Elementary school, Kapitan Tomas Elementary School, Zonta Muslim Elementary School, University of the Immaculate Conception, Davao City National High School, Garuda-Indonesian Boys, Digos City, Compostela Valley, Iligan City, Bukidnon and Cotabato City also competed in the event.
