Brokenshire, HCDC top Dacs Sporsfest

THE Brokenshire College (BC) and Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) reaped top honors at the close of the Davao Association of Colleges and Schools (Dacs) Sportsfest 2008 at the Davao Doctors College (DDC) Gym over the weekend.

BC's Bobby Carballo topped the men's singles A over DDC's Keane Manatad and San Pedro College's Kevin Aperocho who placed second and third, respectively.

BC bets Gene Ablanque captured the men's singles B crown while Kirby Spencer Stanton and Conrado Roa Jr. clinched the men's doubles title.

Ablanque bested Raymart Pantastico of DDC while Edjan Parreño of the University Philippines in Mindanao (UP-Min).

Stanton-Roa, meanwhile, prevailed over Daniel Ines and Ray Dominggo of the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) and Jaywardene Baganian and J Mark Velasco of DDC who occupied the next two spots.

In the women's category, HCDC's former RP youth player and National Prisaa gold medallist Jacqueline Caragao triumphed over SPC's Keizsha Nes Diosana and DDC's Shendy Jill Polancos in singles A.

HCDC also pocketed the women's doubles title through the efforts of Debby Kate Mascardo and Mirabel Roferos, while AdDU's Aiza Rondael and Kristina Mabini and DDC's Richelle Diosana and Najla Bugabong.

But DDC at last bagged a title with Shay Malcampo who ruled the women's singles B at the expense of Evelyn Nemeño and AdDU's Ann Balinos.

The two-day competition was sanctioned by the Metro Davao Table Tennis Association, with tournament director Friendee Nuñez and event coordinator Lemuel Bayron. (MLSA)
