Friday, September 05, 2008 Mindanao power coops to put up media desk
THE Association of Mindanao Rural Electric Cooperative (Amreco) will soon establish its own Media and Communication Affairs Desk to regularly inform power consumers in Mindanao and throughout the Philippines the successful programs of the rural electrification program.
This was the recommendation of an Amreco study team after their planning workshop held at Grand Hotel in Cagayan de Oro.
Amreco is the umbrella organization of 36 rural electric cooperatives in Mindanao.
Amreco Executive Director Clint Pacana said the proposed creation of the Media and Communication Affairs Desk is highly significant and timely because this will regularly inform Mindanao electric cooperatives and their respective consumers what the association is doing for them and what it intends to do in the short, medium, and long term development plans.
The proposal however is up for approval during the Amreco board meeting set on September 5, 2008 in Innland Resort in Butuan City.
In the planning workshop, the Amreco study team also temporarily appointed Zamcelco Director Noel Tarrazona to head the Media and Communication Affairs Desk. Tarrazona is also the Executive Assistant of the City Government of Zamboanga and Asia Times News Correspondent for the Philippines.
Also present during the planning workshop are Amreco Legal Counsel Conchito Oclarit and representatives of the following cooperatives: Zamcelco, Laneco, Moelci-1, Moelci-2, Buseco, and Moresco-1.
