Braga cites need to amend ordinance on Davao terminal
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

THERE is a need to amend the ordinance of Davao City for having a single terminal for both north-bound and south-bound buses, said Councilor Pilar Braga.

"Our population has grown, I think it's time to have terminals other than the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) to cater the north-bound and the south-bound buses," Braga said during Wednesday's edition of the Club 888 press forum at the Marco Polo Davao.

According to her, a pronouncement was recently issued by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte asking the members of the City Council to facilitate the breaking up of the terminal to various parts.

"If the plan will materialize, it's a welcome move for the city," Braga said.

"Our population has grown, but our roads have not," Braga added, referring to the heavy flow of traffic in Ecoland today having DCOTT as the only existing terminal in the city.

Braga said the amendment of the ordinance, the one which provides that no satellite bus terminal must exist aside from DCOTT, is really necessary to be relevant to the people's present need.
