SOME Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels have turned robbers as they carted away sacks of rice that were intended for the evacuees in Maguindanao on Friday.
In a report by the Eastern Mindanao Command, MILF rebels under Kumander Bonnie Ayunan of the 105th Base Command blocked the delivery vehicle of the Mamasapano Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) between barangays Linantangan and Libutan around 8 a.m. Thursday.
The rebels took away all of the 60 sacks of rice that were supposed to be distributed to the refugees in Barangay Libutan.
The military said that the MILF rebels instead brought the rice to Barangay Dasikil where a number of MILF forces are allegedly seeking refuge.
The sacks of rice were donated by United Nations World Food Programme and were intended for the 3,600 families or about 8,000 evacuees sheltering in the evacuation centers around the municipality.
