Golfest tees off on the 21st

A WHOPPING P1 million cash awaits the hole-in-one winner of the fiesta-like Anselmo M. Ferrazzini 8th Memorial Golf Tournament set on September 21, at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club in Mandug, Davao City.

Over-all tournament chairman Anthony, "Anton" Ferrazzini, also vice-president and general manager of the Merco Mercantile Corporation that co-sponsors the golfest along with Selecta, bared this to sports journalists in a press conference at his Cabaguio office Friday.

Ferrazzini said Selecta is the sponsor of the P1 million that is insured by Stronghold Insurance.

He, however, said only 250 participants can get the chance to compete in the biennial tournament that also offers a brand new Wilson golf set, Panasonic flat television and 29-inch colored TV as other hole-in-one prizes in all par 3s of the 18-hole Stableford format event.

Tournament director William de Leon said they will accommodate participants in a first-come, first-serve basis.

"In case, nobody wins a hole-in-one, all the prizes except for the P1 million will be raffled off during the awarding ceremonies that will also be held at Rancho Palos right after the tournament," de Leon said.

"Each hole will have food for the golfers. Participants will not just enjoy playing but will also enjoy eating. The Ferrrazzini golfest is indeed a food galore," Ferrazzini said.

He said regular supporters from Manila, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Cebu and Davao are expected to see action in the meet that will again benefit the Maharlika Charity Foundation.

Registration is pegged at P5,000 for a team entry and P2,500 for the individual entry. Deadline of registration is on Friday. Interested participants may sign up at RPVGCC, Merco Cabaguio and Apo Golf & Country Club.
