Initial investigation showed that the bomb was inside a carton box left by an unidentified man wearing a white t-shirt and a white cap shortly before the explosion around 12:30 in the afternoon.

The bomber was described by witnesses as 5'5" in height, light in built, fair-skinned and between 18-20 years old. The bomber reportedly boarded a blue motorcycle without a plate number and sped towards southeastern direction.

No one was wounded in the said explosion as the store closes for noon breaks.
Authorities are looking into the angle of extortion and diversionary tactics by lawless elements.

Government troops are currently engaging the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels in Maasim, Sarangani that resulted to the death of one rebel identified as Nasser Benito. Benito was said to have participated in last month's attack at the Maasim town hall and police station.

Three Army soldiers were meanwhile wounded from the firefight last September 12-13 in Barangay Daliao.

The military is claiming to have killed 20 more of MILF rebels, as per report from the civilians in the area. One carbine, one .45 pistol, assorted ammunitions, uniforms and personal belongings were also recovered in the encounter site. (BOT)
