CEO to demolish 3 more billboards
By Grace L. Plata

THE City Engineer's Office (CEO) has recommended the demolition of three giant billboards in various areas in Davao City for not complying with the standards set by the National Building Code of the Philippines.

Two of these illegally constructed billboards, placed along Lapu-Lapu corner Leon Garcia Streets and Quimpo Boulevard, respectively, are owned by Ad and Promo Management (APM) while the third, which is placed on top of the Piccio Building along Kawayan Drive in Matina, is owned by Prime Advertising Signs.

Engineer Gloria Lumapas, Chief Enforcement Officer of the Building Permit Division of CEO, said they are merely waiting for City Administrator Wendel Avisado to sign the order so that it can be served to the erring billboard companies.

The billboard companies were cited for violation of Section 1210 of the Building Code.

"No sign permit. Yung isa nasa rooftop na sobra na ang size," Lumapas said.

Section 1210 on Penthouses and Roof Structures specifies height, area, uses and structure requirements.

"No penthouse or other projection above the roof in structures shall exceed 8.40 meters above the roof when used as an enclosure for tanks or for elevators which run to the roof and in all other cases shall not extend more than 3.60 meters in height with the roof," the law states.

"The aggregate area of all penthouses and other roof structures shall not exceed one third of the area of the supporting roof".
