CEO to remove all illegal billboards

THE Davao City Engineer's Office is bent on demolishing all illegally constructed billboards and those that do not follow standard requirements.

According to Engineer Gloria Lumapas, they are in the process of checking the billboards and will not hesitate to recommend any structure for demolition if it has violated the law.

Just this Tuesday, the CEO demolished a billboard along R. Castillo St., near the Agdao flyover, that had no sign permit.

"Wala nang order of demolition needed for them. We just posted a notice on the billboard. Okay man ang owner na kami magtangal sa stucture," Lumapasa said.

"DBBS ang company. Darwin Hortel ang owner, taga-Manila," she added.

Recently, CEO has recommended the demolition of three other billboards, two of which are owned by Ad and Promo Management (APM) while the other is by Prime Advertising Signs.

The first two illegally constructed billboards, placed along Lapu-Lapu corner Leon Garcia Streets and Quimpo Boulevard, respectively, are owned by Ad and Promo Management (APM) while the third is placed on top of the Piccio Building along Kawayan Drive in Matina.

The recommendations have only to be signed by City Administrator Wendel Avisado so the order of demolition could be released.

Lumapas said many more billboards will be checked in the coming weeks and demolitions will probably continue for the whole month. (GLP)
