THE Regional Trial Court issued on Thursday a warrant for the arrest of a scion of the Villa Abrille clan who was accused of shooting to death two men along F. Torres Street on May 23.
RTC Branch 13 Judge Isaac Robillo ordered the arrest of Ken Alder Lelis, who was charged with two counts murder for the death of cousins Rey John Mojica Tolentino, 22, and Rommel Tolentino Siglos, 22.
Robillo is handling the case after RTC Branch 10 Judge Jose Emmanuel Castillo inhibited from the case.
Castillo said the uncle of the accused, lawyer Antonio Tan, was his direct supervisor when he was an assistant prosecutor.
He added that "through his association with Tan, his impartiality might be questioned" and will inhibit himself from all the case involving the Villa Abrilles.
Assistant Regional State Prosecutor Rolando Delima was designated to handle the case after Regional State Prosecutor Antonio Arellano found the inhibition of chief city prosecutor Raul B. Bendigo meritorious because the Villa Abrilles and their kin are close associates and friends.
Four witnesses executed their affidavits, all pointing to Lelis as the "gunman" who shot the two victims while they were trying to flee using their vehicle.
