Sunday, September 28, 2008 Sulamin bags Dutba crown
ED SULAMIN leaned on his vast experience to beat rookie player Ramon Angeles in the championship round of the Durian Tenpin Bowlers Association (Dutba) September Bowler of the Month Finals at the NCCC Mall B3 Center Friday night.
Angeles, who gained the twice-to-beat advantage after amassing 1,176 pinfalls in six games, was no match for number 2 Sulamin (1,159) who eliminated number 4 Lito Balunan (1,094) in the step-the-ladder finals.
Balunan unseated number 3 Nandie Subido (1,097) before arranging the clash with Sulamin who eventually brought home the champion's trophy and P3,000 cash prize.
Angeles, meanwhile, settled for the runner-up prize of P2,000 and a trophy while Balunan received P1,000 and a medal. Subido, on his part, also got a medal.
The other monthly qualifiers were Paul Rabe, Romy Serrano, Tess Gancio, Evelyn Gonzales and William Lam.
In the weekly doubles, Angeles paired with Tina Alovera to strike for 1,579 pinfalls enroute to bagging the crown and the P1,000 top purse.
The pair of Romy Garcia and Raymund Nonato placed second with 1,538 pinfalls.
The Dutba weekly qualifying resumes on Friday at the same venue. (MLSA)
