Consumer Fair set this week
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

THE regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) revealed that this year's theme of the Consumer Fair, which will be staged from October 2 to 5 at the Atrium of the Gaisano Mall of Davao, re-affirms the global shift towards sustainable products and services.

Marizon Loreto, DTI-Southern Mindanao assistant regional director, said this year's edition of the event carries the theme: "On the Healthy and Safe Sides of Living".

The fair will showcase products and services that are healthy and safe both to consumers and the environment.

"It can be observed that a lot of people have become more health-conscious nowadays. We often hear our colleagues and friends, and even family members, talk about the latest diet and exercise regimen that have been discovered lately. This is one manifestation that more people have changed their lifestyle for the better," Loreto said.

Loreto said the increasing number of spa shops and fitness gyms is another indication that there is an upward trend of people patronizing these healthy lifestyle-oriented spots.

It was learned that the Consumer Fair will be staged in collaboration with the Consumer Action for Sustainable and Healthy (Cash) Lifestyle Network, the City Government of Davao, and the Gaisano Mall of Davao.

The Cash Lifestyle Network was launched last month. It is a conglomeration of organizations and individuals who support sustainable consumption of safe and healthy products.
