Sunday, October 05, 2008 Bombs recovered in Gensan
AUTHORITIES recovered a mine explosive inside a house in General Santos City Friday morning.
Elements of Task Force (TF) Gensan and the Army's 72nd Explosive Ordnance Division recovered one M18 A1 claymore mine, one firing device and five meters of firing wires at the house of 28-year-old Rolando Suplaag in Maraya Upper Puting Bato, Barangay Calumpang.
The suspect is now under the custody of TF Gensan and will be turned over to the police authorities for the filing of appropriate charges.
Recovered items were meanwhile deposited at the 72nd EOD for safekeeping.
In another report, nine civilians were injured when a grenade exploded in Surigao del Norte Friday night.
Military reports showed that the explosion happened around 10:30 p.m. in Sitio Capangdan, Barangay Urbiztondo in Claver town.
The injured civilians were identified as Santos Santilan, 55; Rolando Perallas, 28; Jerry Guir, 37; Jerelou Dagasdas, 14; Reman Parian, 18; Ralph John Evangelio, 13; Kenneth Allocod, 14; Roland Patac, 14; Michael Blancada, 21, all of Barangay Urbiztondo.
Recovered from the crime scene was the safety lever of the grenade. The suspects readily fled the area.
Authorities are still investigating the incident. (BOT)
