3 soldiers hurt in landmine blast

A LANDMINE explosion injured three Army soldiers in Bukidnon province, Saturday afternoon.

Reports reaching Sun.Star Davao showed that an Army truck with the soldiers onboard passed Sitio Kapihan, Barangay Concepcion in Valencia City around 3 p.m. of October 4 when the landmine exploded.

Wounded were identified as Privates First Class Cumahig, Variacion, and Velasco, all members of the Army’s 29th Infantry Battalion led by 1st Lieutenant Dulawan and 2nd Lieutenant Plete.

A five-minute firefight ensued with the undetermined number of New People's Army (NPA) rebels belonging to the Front Committee 6.

The wounded were brought to a hospital where they are now recuperating. (BOT)
