City Hall retirees get cash, tokens, TV sets

ASIDE from their usual retirement benefits, the 40 City Government employees retiring this year were given retirement rings, cash tokens and free television sets during Monday's luncheon hosted for them by Davao City.

City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte, in his short talk, apologized for his absence during the presentation of the retirees at the City Hall during flag ceremonies, Monday last week.

"I just wanted to share some time with you and talk about a few things," Duterte said while thanking them for the long years of service.

"In behalf of the people who have directly benefited from your toil, daghang salamat," Duterte added.

The mayor also assured the retirees they will get help from the city if they should need it, especially in terms of medicines and medical procedures.

"Whatever the City Government can do for you, just let me know. I will designate Bong Go para maduolan ninyo if you need medicines ug labi na kung kinahanglan ug operasyon (especially if you need surgical operations). I think the city can accomodate that," he said.

The mayor also urged the retirees to put up a cooperative in order for them to have something to get busy with and stay active.

"Kinahanglan mag-exercise gyud (You have to exercise). Live and eat healthy," Duterte reminded them.

The mayor also promised to provide the seed money for the cooperative should they decide to pursue the project. (GLP)
