Lapus graces blessing of school buildings

EDUCATION Secretary Jesli Lapus attended the inauguration of new school buildings in two different public high schools in Davao City Monday.

"This is a huge project. He (Lapus) is grateful to the members of Congress for their great contribution to education," Department of Education (DepEd)-Southern Mindanao Spokesperson Lorenzo Mendoza said as explanation for Lapus' effort to be present during Monday's activity.

The 12-room, three-storey building worth P14.5 million at Francisco Bangoy National High School in Barrio Pampanga and the four-room, two-storey building worth P4.5 million at Sixto Babao National High School in Ilang were built through the efforts of Second District Representative Vincent Garcia.

Mendoza said this is in line with the Garcia's commitment to build 69 classrooms in the 2nd district during his three-year term.

"Education is second to none. It is a great equalizer and that is why I am urging all stakeholders to join in educating our children," Lapus said in his speech.

Lapus also thanked DepEd officials and teachers for making the department one of the top performing agencies in the country. (GLP)
