THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) chief and the station commanders have already submitted the status report on 25 vigilante killings in the list given by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Chief city prosecutor and Witness Protection Program Davao City unit implementer Raul B. Bendigo said he has earlier asked the office of the DCPO chief Senior Superintendent Ramon Apolinario to furnish him the copy of the status report as specified by the DOJ.

Bendigo also said they will also discuss the list of victims and to discuss ways of encouraging witnesses to testify.

They will also be discussing an extension of the coverage under the Witness Protection, Security and Benefit Program of the DOJ if qualified.

In a ,emorandum 2008 issued last September 8, 2008, Justice Secretary Raul M. Gonzalez directed Regional State Prosecutor Antonio B. Arellano and Bendigo to conduct an investigation and to submit a report on the Asian Human Rights Commission's reported inadequate protection for witnesses to vigilante killings in Davao City. (RMH)
