WORLD Boxing Council (WBC) international super bantamweight champion Sande Otieno arrived in Davao City Saturday night in preparation for his 12-round title defense against local hero Balweg "Davao Hitman" Bangoyan on October 10 at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym in Davao City.
The 33-year-old Otieno, a hero in his native Kenya and undefeated in 16 fights, earlier arrived in Manila following a 15-hour flight from Nairobi with a four-hour stopper in Doha, Qatar.
The African champion was accompanied by brother Nick Otieno and trainer Paul Otieno. Nick Otieno himself will fight in the undercard of the Otieno Bangoyan battle dubbed "Ring War in Davao" against Rexon Flores in a 10-round contest.
Jose Abad Santos Mayor Alexander Wangkay, who handles Bangoyan, accompanied the fighters and their respective trainers in paying a courtesy call to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Monday Monday afternoon.
Like Otieno, Bangoyan is a also undefeated. The 21-year-old Filipino boxer boasts of a record of 12-0 with seven KOs.
A press conference for the card organized by ZK International Promotions was set last night.
