Tuesday, October 07, 2008 Seagull FC outplays Leopards in football
THE Seagull Football Club (FC) edged the Brokenshire Leopards, 3-2, to remain unbeaten after two outings in the resumption of the DFA League 2008 at the Tionko Football Grounds Sunday.
The 80th minute goal of Jayric Iligan broke a 2-all deadlock to secure the win for Seagull.
Iligan's teammates struck for back-to-back goals in the 15th minute while St. John Conde and Michael Simms knocked in goals in the sixth and 36th minutes, respectively, for the Leopards who took their second straight loss.
Seagull routed Club 35, 6-1, during the opener on Sept. 27.
Seagull and Medvil FC had a share of the lead with six points. The latter also grabbed its second straight win at the expense of Columbia, 2-1.
Medvil's Joey Arobo scored in the 20th while Jerome Balaga added a goal in the 79th to counter goal made by Columbia booter Jerby Alcontin in the 54th.
In past meetings, the Hooligans nipped Club 35, 3-2, while Medvil beat Leopards, 7-4, and Columbia tied with Hooligans, 1-1.
The Davao Football Association (DFA)-sanctioned tournament will resume on Saturday. (MLSA)
